This product is widely known for its great viewing quality. The images are crystal clear, and it captures such a wide angle of viewing. The image quality and brightness are both top notch on this pair of binoculars. They have both smooth focusing and diopter focusing, which is a key factor in their great image quality. This image quality is maintained at all distances and magnifications. The great image quality makes these binoculars great for hunting and animals watching, as well as pretty much any possible outdoor activity that you would want to use a pair of binoculars for.
If you're very new to the binocular world, check out the Ultimate Binoculars Buying Guide to familiarize yourself a bit more. But, we'll give these number a quick overview.
The first number is the magnification. Generally, hunters and bird watchers want an 8x or 10x and it depends entirely on what they are doing and how they are using the binoculars. A 6x won't be as useful to a hunter or birder, but these would be a great level for a kid to use, since their smaller arms will not be as steady holding the larger binoculars.
The last number is the size of the objective lens (the lens that is closer to the object you are viewing). Lower numbers mean a smaller and more compact lens, but it also means less light is getting through so you'll have a darker or lower quality image.
Yosemite BX-1 Size
These binoculars are smaller than the average pair, and therefore they are great for those who have smaller hands.
These binoculars have an extremely wide range of uses, thanks to the versatility of their design. The Leupold BX-1 Yosemite Porro Prism Binoculars is great pair of binoculars for young children, as well as for experienced adults who need a well-functioning, durable pair of binoculars.
Their length, coming in at 4.6" and 4.5" is shorter than many competing brands.
Their weight, at 17 ounces, is barely over 1 pound and light enough for even young children to hold against their faces.
BX-1 Lens and Prisms
The Leupold BX-1 Yosemite Porro Prism Binoculars have a fully multi coated lens system to help create an amazing viewing experience. The lenses are crystal clear, and they are among the best lenses for binoculars in this price range.
This product has a system of L-Coat BaK-4 Prisms that help it to manage a close distance viewing of around ten feet though many customers report these binoculars to have a close range viewing of as little as five feet.
These binoculars are surprisingly bright for their lens size. In fact, some people even complained it was too bright.
While these complaints are probably more related to user error than anything wrong with the binoculars, it illustrates the high brightness and color purity.
Leupold Yosemite BX-1 Image
This pair of binoculars is widely known for its great viewing quality.
The images are crystal clear, and it captures such a wide angle of viewing with a huge field of view ranging from 351 ft to 420 ft.
The image quality and brightness are both top notch on this pair of binoculars as compared to others in the $100 range. The great part is the smooth diopter adjustment and how the image stays clear at all distances and magnifications.
The great image quality makes these binoculars great for hunting and animals watching, as well as pretty much any possible outdoor activity that you would want to use a pair of binoculars for.
Ruggedness and Durability
This product is armor coated, rugged, and water proof. It should survive just about anything you can throw at it.
It also comes with the Leupold Lifetime Warranty for just in case something does happen to this wonderful pair of binoculars.
They are also really comfortable, which, for a rugged pair of binos is fairly rare.
Leupold BX-1 Yosemite 6x30 Review
The 6x30 is the smallest BX-1 Yosemite binocular available. At 6x magnification, it is great for beginners who want a little magnification but are't looking to get into serious bird watching or hunting.
Also, it has an amazingly broad field of view of 420, which is really good. It does sacrifice a bit of close focus distance to get this field of view, but at 10 ft, that isn't that bad.
As compared to the 8x30 and the 10x30, this pair of 6x30s has a really great eye relief, so it's perfect for people that need glasses to correct their vision even while using binoculars.
Leupold BX-1 Yosemite 8x30 Review
These are the perfect middle-point for hunters and birders. The 8x30 gets you close enough to see the amazing details but also is low enough to let you track that small bird jumping from tree to tree.
The Leupold Yostemite 8x30 has an acceptable eye relief of 15.5 mm and a close focus distance of 10ft. It's amazingly wide field of view of 389 ft is quite large and will allow you to track game at great distances.
This pair of binoculars is going to have a better magnification but lower field of view than the 6x30. Also, it has a bit smaller eye relief, but still well inside the range of normal when compared to other brands.
Leupold BX-1 Yosemite 10x30 Review
These have the biggest magnification of all 3, but you sacrifice some field of view. Its FOV is only 351 ft, which is actually quite wide when compared to other brands.
So, you can get great magnification and still have a wider field of view than many of its competitors.
Their eye relief is 15.5 mm which is fine, and their weight is only 17 ounces. It's really rare to find a 10x30 pair of binoculars that have the quality image and also the low weight as these Leupold's do.
Overall Thoughts of the Leupold BX-1 Yosemite
These binoculars have many possible usages, because of the amazing versatility of their design.
These Leupolds are highly adjustable, so people big and small can use them. We really love this because most brands can't be adjusted for children to use them.
They are bright enough for almost any outdoor activity but are mostly used for hunting, bird watching, and animal watching.
The BX-1 Yosemite can focus on objects in both close range and long range, which makes them ideal for spotting animals and birds. They also focus very clearly and have a very wide field of view to further help you spot movement at a distance.

What Others Are Saying About These BX-1 Binoculars
By Kitchen Barbarian
These are perfect for watching birds outside near my bedroom window.
I can focus in on the birds with totally clear detail, and can even see the scaly pattern on their legs. I can see their skin when the wind blows their feathers as well.
The biggest downside is that it's too bright sometimes and it gives me a headache.
The other complaint I have is that the eyecups WILL NOT stay in place. Just pushing them against my face causes the cups to pop back in.
It is quite annoying as I need to have them extended fully all of the time.
I may end up wrapping something around the eyecup shaft to stop them from pressing in.
I took 1 star off because the eye cups constantly collapse on the Leupold BX-1 Yosemite that I have. Another user noted the same defect - quality control needs to figure this out!
By Tom Grass
I really like these binoculars because they are really comfortable. They fit to my eyes perfectly.
I also really like the range they have which is pretty good.
I bought some Bushnell's in a similar price range and for some reason they did not align at all. It may have been a manufacturer defect, but I returned those and got the BX-1 Yosemite's instead.
